Understanding Las Vegas Acupuncture

Las Vegas Acupuncture Clinic: In order to get the full benefits of acupuncture for pain relief and stress reduction, it is important to get some vital information about the medicine and equipment being used in acupuncture clinics.  Acupuncture involves the insertion of single-use filiform acupuncture needles which are made of stainless steel and are constructed to adhere to specific medical standards.  They are only inserted one needle at a time and are discarded afterwards minimizing potential contamination.  Acupuncture is a healing modality that is part of a larger medical system called Traditional Chinese Medicine. This medical system can treat a wide variety of health problems including reducing and alleviating pain.  Traditional Chinese Medicine was developed thousands of years ago and include multiple modalities such as Chinese herbal therapy, cupping and more.  Acupuncture needles are inserted into the skin and tissue at very specific acupuncture points along pathways known as “meridians” or “acupuncture channels.” These pathways house the body energy, Qi, pronounced as “Chee”.  This energy flows over the entire length of the body while the insertion of needles at these specific points have the ability to balance the energy, promoting healing and overall well-being.

The first question that is often asked of acupuncturists is if the acupuncture will be effective for a specific kind of pain that is being endured by the patient.  Naturally, the effectiveness of acupuncture is going to rely upon the specifics of the issue, the type of pain that is being treated, and how the patient responds to the treatments.  Acupuncture is known to have positive results at treating allergies, abdominal pain, cramps, depression, joint pain, lower back pain, migraines and a wide variety of other ailments that are common in today’s society.  In order for an acupuncture treatment to provide the best results, it is important for the person receiving the treatment to be able to fully relax, while finding an acupuncturist you’re comfortable in communicating with and getting treatments from helps.  During needle insertion or the removal process most patients feel little to no pain at all but there may be a slight pinching feeling upon the needle insertion, especially if the area is more sensitive or if a muscle grabs the needle.  Even in these circumstances, it is almost always reported that any discomfort dissipates within a short period of time, usually under 2 minutes.  Most people will actually feel deep relaxation and even drowsiness during in their acupuncture treatment.

The number of acupuncture treatments that will be necessary is going to be based on a wide variety of factors that are specific for your case and health issue.  There are many disorders which are easier to treat then others and will have a positive response within only a few treatments.  Other conditions will need regular acupuncture treatments, sometimes upwards of 1 to 3 treatments per week initially.  After the initial treatments and where positive results have been achieved, they are usually put on a maintenance schedule in order to maintain the status.  Costs of acupuncture can add up and will vary in the number of treatments needed. Always ask your acupuncturist if they offer package treatment discounts.
